HISTORY Brothers Electronics, Inc was incorporated in the state of New Jersey in February 1972. Co-founding partners and "brothers", Fred Thorogood as President and Tom Kenny as Secretary / Treasurer brought over three decades of experience and unique backgrounds in electronic distribution to the company's beginnings. Their own origins growing from the likes of Arrow and Milgray where distribution was birthed on "Radio Row". In February 1973, successful efforts allowed Brothers to move into professional offices in Iselin, NJ and Summer 1979 saw the company's expansion to Edison, NJ. Continued growth necessitated yet another move to a larger facility in East Brunswick, NJ which is Brothers' current location. Sales Branches were added in Massachusetts in 1997, Florida in 1998 and 1999 resulted in a new sales office servicing the Delaware Valley. When Gan Arnold joined Brothers as President/CEO in 1989, sales grew from $600,000.00 to over $10 million in 2000. As a result of increased sales and staff development, Brothers converted to its current mainframe computerization in 1994 with continuous improvements in IT development. The first interactive website was introduced in 1999 with a completely remodeled version being rolled out in July of 2007. A web store was added in 2008, making many products available 24-7. EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT Fred Thorogood held the position of President until 1989, while Tom Kenny was the Secretary/Treasurer until his sudden death in early 1989. Gan Arnold's joining Brothers Electronics as President/CEO in March of 1989 allowed Fred to actively sit as Vice President. Her initial experience at Brothers was followed by a move out west. Her time in Avnet sales and years in TTI management created ideal skills that were novel and unmatched. Ms. Arnold's majority ownership classifies Brothers Electronics to be certified as a "Small Business Woman Owned" corporation. Her management philosophy is to encourage employee decision making and responsibility. Each person is charged with the responsibility and authority to provide input towards continuous improvement. |
